Leadership

Temisan Boyo Fanou, BA, MA
Founder & Principal Consultant

Temisan is a lawyer and consultant specializing in labour, migration, and human rights. In her consulting practice, she advises United Nations agencies and international NGOs on matters relating to labour migration and fair recruitment, child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking, particularly in Africa. In this respect, she has worked with government ministries in several African countries to design donor-funded projects that will help to achieve the 2063 African Union Agenda and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

Prior to launching her practice, Temisan served as a Member of the Refugee Protection Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada where she adjudicated refugee claims from asylum seekers arriving in Canada from around the world. She also practiced labour, employment, and human rights law at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP and in the City of Toronto's Legal Division. Temisan is currently an adjunct instructor at Queen's University Faculty of Law where she teaches a course on refugee law and protection.

Temisan is a dual citizen of Nigeria and Canada and has been called to the Bars of Nigeria and Ontario. She holds a bachelor's degree in international relations and peace and conflict studies from the University of Toronto and a law degree from the University of Oxford. In 2024, she received her MA in Labour Studies at McMaster University, specializing in addresing the challenge of labour exploitation in global supply chains.
